About Stefan Mayer Instruments

S. M. and two future employees at an almost non-magnetic place at Cala Figuera, MallorcaDear internet user,

Welcome to the web site of Stefan Mayer Instruments! In 1993, when I started making fluxgate magnetometers for scientific applications I was working on experiments with low-energy electron beams at the University of Muenster, Germany. Such experiments are extremely susceptible to magnetic field disturbances which have to be measured and compensated for.

A fluxgate magnetometer is the ideal choice for the measurement of small magnetic field variations even below nanotesla levels. Although fluxgate magnetometers are already known since 1936 or earlier I had the impression  that the availability of cost-effective fluxgate magnetometers was rather poor. My impression has been confirmed by the large number of inquiries which I receive from scientists and engineers from all over the world.

Our products have been proven in many applications in geophysics, electron physics, material science, medical, deep drilling, traffic control, and others.

Our design philosophy is specifically focused on maximizing reliability and the price/performance ratio. We do not load our products down with seldom-used extra features. I much appreciate a good contact with the (future) users of our products. This enables us to create cost-effective solutions which really meet your specific requirements in low field magnetic measurement.
